So on our first morning up we shared some breakfast with our hosts before heading out to explore the town. First we went to one of the large markets.

it was kind of drizzly the whole time but this was a HUGE market! You could find practically anything here!
We stopped off for a drink at a church that has been turned into a café/restaurant. It had a really elaborate interior.
After the café we bought some batteries for our camera (which was an interesting story because we bought like this bulk pack of batteries and then for some reason they didn’t work. So we tried to exchange them with the guy but he was like “well you’ve already opened them so, no.” then our host who of course, being a native, speaks dutch, explained and got the situation resolved and we were able to get another pack of duracell batteries that worked! Another benefit of couch surfing, locals who will stand up for you when you would otherwise be cheated out of something simply because you’re a tourist and don’t speak the language!). Oh, and we also bought some herring at the market for dinner.
Then we spent essentially the rest of the day walking around with our host who has given walking tours of Amsterdam before so it was like having a private tour! We saw so many things and I don’t want to bore you with too many photos so I’ll just put a few on here. (sorry if it repeats the first two)
